Rotary International Convention - 2003
Most recently, Caboolture Bus Lines tendered and won the contract for this convention.
This was one of the largest conventions held in Australia in recent years with delegates numbering around 16,000 persons.
Visitors to the convention stayed at 89 official hotels (and numerous other non-official venues)
in Brisbane’s CBD, outer suburbs and on the Gold Coast.
Logistically, the Convention involved :-
around 164 coaches, 3 VIP coaches, 5 mini-vans, limousines, maxi taxis and a luggage van;
shuttles covered 6 x Brisbane routes and 2 x Gold Coast routes;
host event movements involved around 5,000 passengers being moved in under 1 hour;
individualised timetable signage for every hotel and major venue;
specialised training of all drivers, including production of a training manual
and training video for all drivers and staff;
high level input into the planning process and consultation with key stakeholders
including Queensland Rail, Brisbane Transport, Brisbane City Council, Gold Coast City Council, Cititrans,
Queensland Events Corporation, McCormick Rankin & Cagney, Ozaccom, Lambert & Rhebein.
The Convention’s transport arrangements have been rated as amongst the ‘best ever’ for a Rotary Convention.
